Peer Review
Peer Review Workflow
Manage journal reviewer comments, track responses, and generate response letters.
The Peer Review feature helps you manage the revision process after receiving reviewer comments. Access it via the clipboard icon in the top toolbar, or from the dedicated review page at /projects/[id]/review.
Starting a review cycle
Click the Review button (clipboard icon) in the top toolbar.
A dialog appears with configuration options.
- Journal name — e.g., "Nature Machine Intelligence"
- Review type — choose from three types (see below)
- Notes — optional context about this round
The cycle is created and you can begin importing comments.
Importing reviewer comments
After starting a cycle, click Import Comments. The import follows a 3-step flow:
- Paste — Copy-paste the raw reviewer comments from the journal email or PDF
- Preview — The AI (Claude Haiku) parses the text and extracts individual comments, grouped by reviewer (Reviewer 1, Reviewer 2, etc.)
- Import — Review the extracted list and confirm to add them to the cycle
Responding to comments
Each reviewer comment appears as a card with a response area. For each comment:
- Type your response directly — responses auto-save as you type (800ms debounce)
- Toggle status — mark the comment as addressed, partially addressed, or not addressed
- A progress bar for each reviewer shows how many comments have been resolved
Review types
| Type | Use | Badge color |
|---|---|---|
| Journal | Formal peer review from a journal submission | Default |
| Supervisor | Feedback from your PhD supervisor or co-authors | Distinct color |
| Internal | Team review before submission | Distinct color |
Multiple cycles

- Click New Cycle to start the next round
- All previous cycles are preserved in the timeline on the left panel
- Each cycle shows its status (in progress / completed) with a colored dot
- Click any cycle in the timeline to view its comments and responses
