Editor Interface

Overview of the Scriptora AI editor layout, panels, and toolbar.

The Scriptora AI editor is a three-panel layout:

Switching layouts

Use the layout buttons in the top toolbar to switch between:

  • Editor only — full-width editor, no preview
  • Split (default) — editor left, preview/AI right
  • Preview only — full-width PDF preview

On mobile, the layout collapses to a single panel with tab navigation.

The sidebar

The sidebar contains:

  • Files — your workspace file tree; click any .tex or .bib to open it in the editor
  • References — search and add citations
  • Figures — browse figure files in your workspace
  • History — version history and branches

Toggle the sidebar with the button or press Ctrl/⌘ + B.

The toolbar

The top toolbar contains:

  • Compile button — compile with the selected engine
  • Engine selector — choose pdflatex / xelatex / lualatex
  • Peer Review — open the review workflow
  • History — save a named branch
  • Settings — paper settings, watermark preferences
  • Share — invite collaborators

Right panel tabs

The right panel can show:

  • PDF Preview — compiled output
  • AI Chat — conversation with the AI assistant
  • Errors — compilation errors (shown automatically on failure)
